I feel like writting about something that I was already thinking go: relation between portugal and Japan. When we went to Gifu I had the priviledge to one more realize that portuguese were the absolutly number one to "invade " Japan in 1564. The first exlorer, whose name Luis Frois was a portuguese religious council that traveled to Japan, where he lived several years and he was a friend of Oda Nobunaga, the famous japanese daimyo resident at Gifu Castle. There he dedicated himself to to write the "Treat of Diferences between Europe and Japan" and he gave an accurate glimpse of the speficity of japanese culture. His writtings are a reference till today.
He came to die in Nagasaki, thru his life he always tried to understand the japanese culture and describe it to the western cultures and he is a mandatory reading for all that appreciate this culture.

Apetece-me escrever sobre algo que já me apetecia desde a algum tempo: as relações entre Portugal e o Japão. Quando fomos a Gifu tive o privilégio de mais uma vez me espantar com o fato de os portugueses terem sido absolutamente os primeiros estrangeiros a "invadir" o Japão em 1564. O primeiro explorador, de nome Luis Frois era um jesuita português que viajou para o Japão onde permaneceu durante vários anos e tornou-se amigo de Oda Nobunaga, o célebre daimyo japonês residente no Castelo de Gifu. Aí dedicou-se a escrever o "Tratado das Diferenças entre a Europa e o Japão" e deu a conhecer ao mundo a especificidade da cultura japonesa. A sua obra foi uma grande referencia histórica n
a altura e ainda hoje o é para os historiadores japonólogos.
Veio a falecer em Nagasaki, ao longo da sua vida procurou sempre compreender a cultura japonesa e descreve-la ao ocidente e é leitura obrigatória para todos aqueles que apreciam e estudam esta cultura.
